Post Traumatic Stress is a silent killer affecting veterans returning from combat, first responders such as firefighters, police and EMTs and others who have experienced a trauma. $5000 was donated to the Research and Recognition Project in 2018 to assist with training of counselors/therapists in Steuben County. The counselors/therapists are trained in this this non-drug effective method to facilitate change, enrichment, and symptom relief of PTSD. Veteran homelessness has faced America for decades. Meeting the basic needs of shelter is critical for any human being to reach their fullest potential. Veterans Outreach Center's Residential Community includes emergency shelter, transitional, supportive and independent living.
VOC is a local non-profit providing supportive services to veterans in Rochester, Buffalo and the 14 surrounding counties. In November of 2016 they were able to purchase a house that will now help with assistance to female veterans
